MP’s comments on Pub Co’s

Greg Mulholland MP:-Pub Co bosses should stand down.Mulholland MP: Pub Co bosses should step down

It’s a great idea but as we have seen with the bankers it is jobs for the select few, if one or two of their own are removed they are immediately replaced by similar people and the removed one’s appear in another company, even when they are totally discredited.

They need people on these corporate boards with more in depth ideas of the current situation, long term good operators, not failed licensees that have climbed the corporate ladder, city whizz kids with a knowledge of numbers and no understanding of licensees or totally inexperienced university graduates with connections.

The other thing that they all have to do is get away from growth by over valuing and return to growth by profitability, which the majority of these corporate boards are suddendly realising is a lot harder to do than getting a few well paid RICS members to over value their estates for paper profitability, it’s a hard bullet to bite, welcome to the real world.

Sadly almost every every Pub owning Company of any consequence has fallen victim to this policy and they are in a lot of cases unable to readjust.

Fair Pint, have raised the issues that are destroying the industry, which have been identified by the Select Committee, the major players are fighting change by every hook and crook, in my case dirty tricks. They have to return to genuine profitability, they cannot continue with the present system, any delay will mean many more honest people bankrupted, my colleague had eight calls from people desperate for help this week.

Compromise will not be a solution good legislation will be.
